One dead after collision between semi and train near Rouleau

A semi-truck driver is dead after his vehicle collided with a train outside Rouleau Friday afternoon.

In a news release sent before 2 p.m., Milestone RCMP said members were on scene of a crash on a grid road on Highway 39, approximately 2 km east of Rouleau.

The semi-truck had one adult driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle. He was declared deceased on scene by EMS.

Police said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the CP Police Service.

A Saskatchewan RCMP Collision Reconstructionist, Occupational Health and Safety and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service also attended the scene.

In the release, police thanked the Rouleau Fire Department and Moose Jaw EMS for their assistance.

Rouleau is approximately 50 km southwest of Regina.
